A large tree, reaching 20-35 metres in height at maturity. With its distinctive furrowed, dark red bark and contrasting blue-green foliage, E. tricarpa is a popular choice as a focal tree for landscaping. E. tricarpa is also a good selection as a shade tree or for encouraging native fauna into the garden. Flowers are typically white to cream coloured and present in winter. Frequent in dry-sclerophyll forest or woodland, E. tricarpa is tolerant of most soil types including well-drained or dry, infertile, and shallow soils - although it adapts well to wetter climates and soil types. Once established it is tolerant of frost and extended dry conditions.
